| Working a bead inside on the the ports. Notice the flat block of charcoal with glass on it. This was one attempt to work with tesserae. A single piece of glass was placed on the charcoal and allowed to heat. It was then touched with the mandrel and wound on. This technique did work but required a good knowledge of fire control. Darrell (an expert blacksmith) had no difficulties but it wasn't easy for other people. Previous
